Cats vs Dogs

Cats vs Dogs
I feel that cats are better than dogs.

Firstly, I think cats are better than dogs because they are quiet and a dog is loud so if you buy an expensive dog and the neighbors make a complaint than that is just  a waste of money.

Secondly, I know that there are so many different types of cat’s that everyone would want. There are funny cat’s, Grumpy cat’s, cat’s that are smart and do the things that most humans do, and so on. There are so many different types of personalities that cat’s have, it would take so long to write all of them down.

Thirdly, I believe that cat’s are smarter than dogs and have a lot more humor than most dog’s. I also know that cats can be a lot more cleaner than dogs. So if you leave a dog at home, inside, than it might reck all your new expensive furniture and make your house smell bad.

To conclude, as I said cat’s are less money, less work and you can rely on cat’s if you leave them at home. Some cat’s could actually scare dogs a lot bigger than the cat itself. Therefore cat’s are better than dogs.

Addition and subtract of decimals

This week we have been learning to solve word problems with decimal numbers in it. This is what I've learnt.

A door in a classroom is 2.18m tall and the wall is 4.62 metres high. There is a window that is 1.96 metres below the ceiling and it is 1.42 metres from the floor.

  1. How tall is the window?
  2. What is the distance between the door and ceiling?
  3. How taller is the door than the window?
A. 1.96 m + 1.42 m= 3.38 m  4.62 m - 3.38 m = 1.24 m
B. 4.62m - 2.18m = 2.44m
C. 2.18 m - 1.24 m = 0.94 m

Tae - Colours

This week I learnt the names of colours in Te Reo Maori.

Mission to Jupiter

Mission To Jupiter
By Marlyn Head

On the 21 of September, NASA made a spacecraft
that sent Galileo Galilei falling into the dense
atmosphere of the gigantic gas giant Jupiter.

It was the end of a 14 year adventure that included
failure, and triumph.
Galileo Galilei was the first of a generation of unmanned deep
space missions following
the earlier voyager and pioneer probes.

The spacecraft was launched in 1989.
The spacecraft was powered by radioactive decay of
plutonium 238. The spacecraft could not be solar
powered because it can’t be
in the chilly depths of space. Space is so cold, it is -270 degrees Celsius.

Some of the people were worried  due to the
contamination from nuclear waste.
It was not long after when things started to go wrong
.The high gain antenna is used to send
all the information and feedback back to the NASA base.

But the scientists did not give up. Miraculously they were
able to use sophisticated
new techniques to save the spacecraft. The people
were relieved and they made it back alive.

Sailing trip
On Tuesday the 15th of May, my friends and I went on a trip to learn how to sail at the yachting club in Okahu bay.

First of all, we all got dropped off at the nearest bus stop by Okahu bay. There we walked to the yachting club, and that’s where we were going to sail.

Then, we met a healthy grown man named Justin who was teaching us how so set up the boat, steer, catch the wind in our sail in order to go faster because he said ‘We are going to have a race after morning tea’ and finally how to position ourselves in the boat.

After all of that fun, Telasia one of our school ambassador, thanked everyone and we got into our dry clothes. The bus driver arrived just as we were leaving. We all had fun getting wet and seeing our other classmates

Cutting down the tree

Cutting down the tree

Today, After some of our classmates went swimming, A lot of hard working Arborists came to Glen brae to cut down a tree that was considered dangerous for the students of Glen brae School.

They spent, heaps of time working so hard with all the materials to cut down the tree. They had chainsaws, Wood chipper shredders, harnesses and many other useful equipment.I was shocked by the amount of work they were doing. They were very organised and focused on their work.

Our school loved watching the Arborists cut down the tree so we had some free time to play on the junior school playground and have fun. It was amazing and I had so much fun.  Image result for arborists

Road Safety

Road safety.
Yesterday, police officer kent came to our school to talk to our class about road crossing.

First of all, officer kent took us to the road crossing in front of the school. We looked at the traffic going past.

Then, officer kent told us how to crossed the road safely. We waited on the footpath behind the white line.

We walked across the road when the traffic had stopped and the  ‘walk’ .sign was flashing we did not run.

Next jamie pressed the button on the pole to stop traffic.

After that, we went back to our classroom.

We were glad officer kent told us how to cross the road safely.
