Addition and subtract of decimals

This week we have been learning to solve word problems with decimal numbers in it. This is what I've learnt.

A door in a classroom is 2.18m tall and the wall is 4.62 metres high. There is a window that is 1.96 metres below the ceiling and it is 1.42 metres from the floor.

  1. How tall is the window?
  2. What is the distance between the door and ceiling?
  3. How taller is the door than the window?
A. 1.96 m + 1.42 m= 3.38 m  4.62 m - 3.38 m = 1.24 m
B. 4.62m - 2.18m = 2.44m
C. 2.18 m - 1.24 m = 0.94 m
